Museums Northumberland presents ‘Northumberland Folk’, a series of four new exhibitions by illustrator Jonny Hannah. Discover some of Northumberland’s strangest stories and most curious characters through Jonny’s extraordinary paintings and prints.
The vast array of Northumbrian stories you will see illustrated in the exhibitions have been drawn from our museum collections, inspired by our heritage buildings and contributed to the project by members of our communities.
This exhibition is a visual treasure trove of tales from Northumberland’s rural south and west. Meet a Curious Countess, a tragic Quilter and an incendiary thinker. View a host of Hexham Tans, each illustrated with a ghostly tale. And don’t forget to watch out for the Allendale wolf!
Don’t miss the free daily Northumberland Folk Spotlight tour (10 mins) at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm
And if you’re inspired to take a little bit of Northumberland Folk home, then please visit the museum gift shop or you can buy original pieces of artwork, limited edition prints and gifts in our online shop.
Northumberland Folk is included in the price of admission to Hexham Old Gaol.
