National Renewable Energy Centre

2002 - present

Technology Innovation and Research Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy

Location:

Offshore House, Albert Street, Blyth, Northumberland NE24 1LZ, UK

National Renewable Energy Centre is the leading technology innovation and research centre for offshore wind power, wave energy, tidal energy and low carbon technologies in the country. It is a part of the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult.

It provides services to the power sector; helping its clients literally to ‘test the water’ before proceeding to full-scale production with renewable technologies. Narec’s wind and marine services include blade prototype testing for wind turbines, wave technology, and testing for submersibles – a category which includes sub-sea pipes and cable protection systems.
