‘Cocks’ Morpeth Medley and Rant’ is named for William Alfred Cocks (1892-1971), whose collection of pipes and piping ephemera forms the basis of Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum.
Presided over by William Alfred Cocks himself, this new exhibition by illustrator Jonny Hannah is a cacophony of visual storytelling through his extraordinary paintings, prints and cut-outs. Historic Northumbrian pipe supremo and rogue, Jimmy Allen (1734–1810), will show the way for visitors to discover Hannah’s medley of intriguing folk tales and local heroes connected to the Chantry, the museum collection and this unique Northumbrian town.
‘Cocks’ Morpeth Medley and Rant’ is part of ‘Northumberland Folk’, a series of four connected exhibitions across Museums Northumberland created by award-winning illustrator Jonny Hannah.
