Summer STEM Club

Our summer club ran for four weeks over the 2022 summer holidays. We ran the first two weeks for children aged 7-9 and the second two weeks for children aged 10 - 11.

Thank you to all of the children who attended and the special guests who contributed and made the club so much fun!

Yes, the activities are being developed to be suitable for children in this age range and the age range will also affect the staffing ratio for the club.

The club will run from 10am until 3pm. Please ensure your child can arrive at 10 am so we can start the club promptly.

The club runs for two weeks: Monday – Friday the first week and Monday – Thursday the second week. The final Friday is an optional field trip – to attend the trip an adult over the age of 18 must accompany the child and be responsible for them during the trip.

The club will be repeated the following two weeks after, the majority of the activities will be the same but adapted slightly to make them age approriate. Please only book your child on one of the two clubs.

Attendng children will be provided with a healthy lunch, snacks and drinks during the club. Please let us know when booking if your child has any allergies or dietary requirements we need to be aware of.

We will be taking photos during the club, we ask that you fill in our photo permission form letting us know whether you are happy for us to photograph your child or not.

Most of our activities will be indoors at Woodhorn but we may also be out in the grounds around Woodhorn or around the nature reserve. We advise to check the weather before coming and dress accordingly. We recommend bringing a hat and wearing trainers or shoes suitable for going on a walk and a coat just in case!

We recommend you apply sun cream to your child before they attend each day. We do not apply sun cream on children. They are welcome to bring it themselves and re-apply it if needed during the day.

Our staff take regular lateral flow tests. Equipment is cleaned before and after use and public areas of the museum are cleaned regularly. Staff and children will be encouraged to wash hands regularly and anyone with Covid should not take part in the summer club.

Please let us know as soon as you can so we can offer the space to another child.

Staff working at our summer club have undergone an enhanced DBS check.

Children will be signed in and out each day as they are dropped off and picked up by parents/ carers.
