Jailbirds

By the artist Bethan Maddocks

11am – 12.30pm, daily during Weekends and Northumberland school holidays.

Create your own book-bird and add it to the flock!

Hexham Old Gaol holds hundreds of years of stories in its walls. It’s the oldest purpose built gaol in England and has stood here in the middle of Hexham for over 650 years.

You can add your own story to the collection.

Join one of Customer Hosts between 11am and 12.30 to make you own book-bird. Fill the pages of the book-bird with your own thoughts and ideas about what you have seen, heard and experienced at Hexham Old Gaol today.

You can leave your book bird here to be added to the flock in the Charlton Room, or you can take it away to keep.

This family friendly arts activity is inspired by the ‘Felons’ film by Matt Stokes and the Border Library Collection.
