Make Some Noise!
New Writing North runs three-day Summer Schools across the North East, where young people aged 12-19 work on exciting creative writing projects with professional writers and artists. It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced writer or just want to try something new; if you’ve got an interest in creative writing then their Summer Schools are for you.
And this year they are holding their first summer school at Woodhorn Museum!
Together with guest writers Carmen Marcus and Kris Johnson the summer school will create poetry and prose inspired by the natural surroundings and the industrial heritage of the unique site. Then, the group will work with a composer and poet, Martin Heslop, to create amazing audio recordings using sounds from the site.
The Summer School is free to attend, though places must be booked through New Writing North’s Eventbrite page.
