Pop Up Ashington Group Hut

Ashington Group 90

Sat 20th July – Sun 1st September, Woodhorn Museum

12noon - 3pm Suggested Donation £1

This is your chance to get creative over the summer holidays.

Our Pop-Up Ashington Group Hut, designed by visual artist Imogen Cloët, is inspired by the hut in which the Ashington Group met to make and talk about their artworks.

Visit our pop-up Ashington Group hut during the summer holiday and get creative with a programme of art activities designed by Paul Merrick and inspired by one of the Ashington Group paintings. The activity will change every two weeks, so come and have a go at all three activities.

Saturday 20th July – Sunday 4th August: Pigeon Crees

Have a go at making a colourful mini allotment and fill it with your choice of birds, flowers and prize winning veg using paper collage techniques.

Monday 5th August – Sunday 18th August: Whippets

Inspired by the much-loved Ashington Group painting ‘Whippets’ by George Blessed, you will create your own colourful versions of the much-loved breed of dog that became a big part of the pitmen’s lives away from the colliery.

Monday 19th August – Sunday 1st September: Oom Pah Pah

Oom Pah Pah! is inspired by the amazing brass instruments played by members of Colliery Brass Bands. Pick a player and create your own imaginary brass instrument using the materials provided. The wackier the better!!

A friendly member of staff will be on hand to help but we ask that children are not left unattended, grown-ups are encouraged to get creative too!

Drop in, no need to pre-book.

The Pop Up Hut will be open between 12noon and 3pm.

Included with Annual Pass admission and no need to pre-book. Suggested donation £1

Ashington Group 90 is supported by The Ashington Group Trustees, Northumberland County Council, Arts Council England, Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and Sir James Knott Trust.
