This summer, Woodhorn Museum will be hosting a one-week summer club themed around Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) for children aged 9 - 11
During this taster session, you can learn more about this Summer STEM Club and try out one of our hands-on engineering activities by making your own mini mangonel (a type of catapult) and working with your family to adapt it to see how far it can launch a ping pong ball! Can you beat our record of 6.5 metres? Book your place here.
These taster sessions are free of charge and have been kindly funded by the Platten fund. Children attending must be accompanied by a responsible adult during the session. These sessions are aimed at children who will be aged 9-11 years old by the 31st July 2023.
A bit about our summer club:
The summer club is aimed at children aged 9 – 11 who live in South East Northumberland. It will be free to attend (including food and refreshments) and limited spaces will be available. At the workshops you will be able to register your interest in a space for your child and places will be allocated at the end of June.
Children would be expected to attend all five days of the summer club which would include hands-on science experiments, engineering challenges and special guests such as local companies and activity providers.
The Summer STEM Club will run 10am – 3pm, Monday 31st July – Friday 4th August.
Funded by the Platten Fund (through Community Foundation for Tyne & Wear and Northumberland).
